I was trepidatious about this thing after seeing the prior reviews. But, it is a simple device and Amazon is very good about return of things that just "don't work" -- so I decided to take a chance.On first try the thing did not work. BUT, careful examination revealed that the contact pins on the battery eliminator were not positioned correctly to mate with the power connector on the radio (XTS 5000). A quickadjustment with a pointed tool (just bending the eliminator contacts outward) fixed the problem. I gave it a few drop, twist and smack tests with no failure so far. If you are willing to slightly modify the thing it seems to work OK. Only 4 stars because the design and/or QC needs improvement.
